Background

From a meter reader in St Vincent to eighteen years in Defence logistics, and the study, qualifications and programmes that bridge to civilian assurance work.

Past

I started as a meter reader for the national electricity utility in St Vincent, a critical national infrastructure (CNI) environment, and spent twelve years working up to leading the GPS geo-tagging project that underpinned an Esri Special Achievement in GIS award. I joined the Royal Navy and spent eighteen years in Defence logistics: supply accounts, stocktaking, fleet inspection, transport safety. It took postgraduate study and a set of audit qualifications to recognise it as governance, risk and compliance under a different name. At Wildcat Maritime Force, I consolidated scattered equipment into one accountable site, closed fourteen loss investigations, and led a nine-person team through a live weapons trial and an overseas exercise.

May 2024 – Sept 2026

On a front-line warship, I took over a supply chain account rated unsatisfactory and reduced financial liability by 80% through asset verification and documentation remediation. Reviewing annual inventory demands on an adjacent account, I also identified £2.4M in misallocated expenditure and led the analysis supporting its correction.

I took over and rebuilt the STOROB (cross-platform stock reallocation) inventory-tracking spreadsheet feeding the fleet's data platform, and founded "Empowerment Day" for junior rates.

On that account, I worked at section head level, responsible for daily operational output, managing 5 to 10 people, with inventory under management valued between £10M and £25M.

Future

I'm building towards a civilian manager-level or senior consultant role in supply chain assurance and operational controls, with third-party risk, GRC and internal audit as adjacent routes, at a defence prime, professional services firm or bank, applying the same discipline, closing the gap between what the records say and what's physically true, to supplier ecosystems instead of naval stores accounts. Twelve years inside a national utility and eighteen in Defence logistics both sit inside CNI-grade assurance environments, which is part of that bridge directly, not just the military side of it. The MSc (in progress), the ISO lead auditor qualifications and the case studies on this site are the rest of it, and the evidence that it holds.
